Kingdom Hearts Fan Points Out Dragoon Nobody Head I Never Knew Existed

For as often as people needlessly clown on Kingdom Hearts, the enemy designs are usually one of the more consistently praised aspects. The Heartless, Nobodies, Unversed, and Dream Eaters all have varied design philosophies presenting endearing and unsettling creatures.

Regarding the latter, Kingdom Hearts fan @dallin1016 pointed out trivia I never knew regarding the Dragoon Nobodies seen throughout Kingdom Hearts II. So, as it turns out, the head of this Nobody is actually within its neck-like area, not the gaping maw at the very top many, like me, naturally assumed it to be located.

To be entirely fair here, the Jiminy’s Journal entry of the Dragoon does highlight the face at the top left of the page, but I suppose I never noticed it. This sort of hidden head reminds me of the Dusk Nobodies, which have their actual head hidden within their zipper hoodie, as well as the final two Marluxia boss battles in Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, where the Spectre has a face of its own.

Personally, I find the faces of the Dusk and Spectre to be far more apparent, but the point is that this design choice isn’t new. In a sense, the veiled faces do make sense, given the Nobodies’ initial nature as remnants of those who have fallen to darkness. Regardless, I know I’ll never look at Dragoons the same way ever again, and my appreciation for the Nobody enemy designs has just been amplified tenfold.

In Kingdom Hearts IV, Sora is in Quadratum with Strelitzia, a prominent character from Kingdom Hearts Union χ. This setting is an afterworld for the two characters following their tragic fates.

Additionally, this new saga has been titled the Lost Master Arc. Further, some combat footage was showcased, with Sora performing Keyblade transformations against a giant entity that seems to be a Heartless? We don’t know for sure.

“The heart resides within the soul, which in turn is guided by fate to its rightful place” is a crucial phrase used at the start of this trailer for the upcoming mainline game.

Kingdom Hearts IV is in development with an unknown release date and unconfirmed platforms.

Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link will launch for mobile devices via iOS and Android at an unknown time.
